About me

After several years in Winchester, I have now moved to Basingstoke where I have a gorgeous penthouse on top of a yellow building.

The photo below is from Villa Tivoli near Rome a couple of years ago (I was there with Martin)

I sort of have a portfolio career; I work in different directions, more or less related, mainly involving teaching, assessment and research.

In Britain, people like to list letters after their names, according to their qualifications, which makes me:

Loykie Loïc Lominé BA BSc MA MSc PhD FHEA FIEA FRSA NTF    :-)    :-)

I have a PhD in Sociology from the University of Essex (my thesis was about tourism in Australia), an MA in the Sociology and Anthropology of Travel and Tourism from the Roehampton Institute, an MSc in Tourism Management (or rather its French equivalent: une Maitrise d'Ingenierie Touristique) from l'Universite d'Angers and a BSc (Hons) in Hotel Management from Middlesex University Business School. I have some other academic qualifications (notably from the Universite de Bordeaux and Universite de Strasbourg) in German and Philosophy.
I also have a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning & Teaching in Higher Education from the
University of Portsmouth as well as a Postgraduate Certificate in Online and Distance Education from the Open University. I am currently enrolled on a Posgraduate Certificate in Educational Assessment at Bath Spa University.

bulletThe FHEA post-nominal letters refer to the fact that I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (I even sat on the Council five years ago).

bulletThe FRSA post-nominal letters refer to the fact that I am a Fellow of the RSA.

bulletThe FIEA post-nominal letters refer to the fact that I am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors. This is linked to some of my work as Chief Examiner with educational bodies such as AQA and the IB.

bulletThe NTF post-nominal letters refer to the fact that I am a National Teaching Fellow -- i.e. one of the best academics in the UK :-) -- it's official now :-) see that page from The Guardian, a press release and my official profile on the HE Academy website (Kos took the photo in Moscow last April).

There will be more photos elsewhere on that site; the gorgeous blonde below is Sharon. Flybe is an airline I used very often ;-)
